Sandwing Lore

The sand kingdom has undergone years of instability. Constant conflict, but within and outside its borders, and crime in places such as the Scorpion Den growing year after year. Since Eremics ascension to the throne, this has begun to change, though gradually. The sandwings now focus on internal affairs, leaving the other kingdoms alone unless they stand to gain something from it, or they are directly provoked.

For the first time in years, crime rates have been dropping due to ruthless enforcement of the law. A large number of sandwing soldiers actively occupy the Scorpion Den, and the rest of the army patrols the kingdom, hunting gangs, organized crime, and traitors. This has made travel within the sand kingdom far more taxing, though also far safer, than it once was.

To support this expanded focus on reducing crime, the legal system has been partly reworked, giving far more power to newly established courts. Currently, only two major courthouses exist, one in the sand palace, and one in the Scorpion Den. Both have an associated prison, a contingent of guards, and one or more judges to enact judgement. While the Queen herself can act as a judge, she has no authority to overrule their decisions in matters of law, short of rewriting the law entirely.
